How to help Democrats win the GA Senate seats

With the November elections mostly behind us (let's be honest—it won't feel "over" until January 20, 2021!), all eyes are now on the two Senate runoff races in Georgia. The current break down of the U.S. Senate is: 48 Democrats (including 2 Independents who caucus with Dems) and 50 Republicans.

Georgia election law requires candidates to be voted in with at least 50% of the votes cast. If no candidate achieves that threshold, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes face one another in a runoff election. Georgia was a Democratic stronghold until after the election of John F. Kennedy. Ever since, the state has flip-flopped, trending more Republican the past few election cycles. But with the tumultuous gubernatorial race in 2018, where Secretary of State Brian Kemp purged over 1.4 million voter registrations before he took on Stacey Abrams for governor, the tide is shifting.

Since losing that contentious race, Abrams has shifted her focus to voters rights—which seems to have paid off in the 2020 elections. The Biden-Harris ticket won over Trump-Pence. And both Senate races were so close, they're now in heated runoffs. Early voting has commenced, and voting day is January 5, 2021.

If Democrats can win these two seats from Republican incumbents, we will have a 50/50 Senate, giving incoming Vice-President Kamala Harris the tie-breaking vote and power to choose the Senate Majority Leader. This is a huge opportunity to oust Mitch McConnell and his chokehold on democracy, as well as bring long-delayed and much-needed legislation to the people.

Here's how you can help Democrats win Senate seats in the Georgia runoff elections.

The New Georgia Project and Fair Fight has been at the forefront of lawsuits and voter enrollment efforts in Georgia. They deserve copious praise, and financial support! Fair Fight is the organization founded by Stacey Abrams.
